I am Brian Hruska, and The Hruska Group encapsulates my life’s journey through various business ventures. Upon graduating college in 1981, I vividly recall seeking advice from my grandpa Glenn on whether to secure a job or pursue my entrepreneurial instincts. His simple response was, “You’ve got nothing to lose now, son.” Since that moment, my path has been the winding road of an entrepreneur.
My journey has traversed the realms of banking, computer software, insurance, sports bars, and a diverse array of real estate deals. It has been a journey filled with both spicy and bland moments. Yet, as always, I find myself contemplating where the next meal and opportunity will emerge.
Recent Projects
- I’m trying to learn AI, and applying it to everything I do. This is nuts, and its going to get more nuts. AI is going to make Google look like the Dewy Decimal System.
- Crypto is not going away. Solana is winning the smart contract wars. Bitcoin ETFs have brought it into the mainstream world of finance.
- I put a new face on my niece’s website The Kimchi Garden.
- Betty has turned her wood bowl turning hobby into an online ecommerce venture, Woodland Bowl Co. She’s done such a great job that she’s almost run out of people to give bowls to!
- We recently revamped the website for our salon suite business, Suite Properties, and I must say, we did an exceptional job. You can take a look at it here.
- I’ve also been enjoying my time serving on the board at First Community Bank and Trust. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, our bank handled it well and experienced record earnings in 2023.
- However, not everything has been smooth sailing. The Federal Reserve is trying to kill the real estate industry. My only remaining property in Victoria Texas is being hit with insane insurance and property tax increases.
- Previously, this property took a direct hit from Hurricane Harvey in August 2017. This resulted in nearly 100% reconstruction of the property. Unfortunately, we were under-insured, making it a painful and expensive ordeal. I now have a deep sense of empathy for anyone in the path of a hurricane.
